PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Visiting Instructor of Environmental Studies, University of Portland, Portland, OR (08/18 – 05/21)
Hear from my University of Portland students:
(ENV 358, Physical Oceanography) Very informative presentations and lectures, TONS of available feedback to help improve the final project before it was due. Very fair grading standards. The Delcambre field trip was an incredible learning and life experience.
(ENV 361, Meteorology) Dr. Delcambre is an amazing professor who is very knowledgeable in her content area, but also (and arguably equally importantly) very knowledgeable in teaching methods and education. It is evident that she puts a lot of thought and time into activities for class. She requires students to reflect a lot which is a great teaching method, and also requires metacognitive thinking of students which is amazing.
(ENV 365, Climatology) Dr. Delcambre taught me more this semester than possibly any professor has in one semester. I honestly don't know how I learned so much information because the course never felt like a lot of work. Dr. Delcambre is amazing at creating presentations and very helpful videos, and all of the homework and worksheets that we did were very very helpful in making the knowledge stick.
(ENV 387, Environmental Lab) Dr. Delcambre is very friendly and approachable, which was helpful when I had questions that, since we were online, could not just be asked in person. The projects for this lab were informative and really helped me practice the skills that we were learning about and I definitely grew as a scientist because of these projects.
(ENV 391, Imagining Our Future) A big picture takeaway is that the three biggest issues we face today (racial injustice, climate change, and COVID-19) are very much interconnected and we cannot treat them separately. And in order to properly address the root causes we must put in the hard work of unlearning a lot of the narratives that have been drilled into our minds since the beginning of our education.
